Two rooftops in Napoleon, Ohio. A much bigger search market.

Snyder Auto Group operates Snyder Chevrolet and Snyder Buick GMC in Napoleon, Ohio. The hometown may be small, but the competitive landscape isn't. Toledo pulls shoppers to the east, Fort Wayne to the west, and both metros are packed with dealerships competing for the same car shoppers.

For smaller dealerships surrounded by larger markets, SEO for the automotive industry can help level the playing field. Snyder didn't need the biggest marketing budget in the region. It needed to become more visible when the right shoppers were searching.

The Challenge

Search visibility was heading in the wrong direction

By fall 2025, both car dealerships were losing ground in organic search, while organic traffic across both stores reached its lowest point just before we took over their dealership SEO in November 2025.

Ranking keywords on the Snyder Chevrolet website in a single year.

For two established dealerships, the opportunity was clear: rebuild their presence in search, regain qualified organic traffic, and turn that visibility into more leads.

The charts made the challenge impossible to miss. The goal was to make the turnaround just as obvious.

What We Did

The automotive SEO strategy: content, structure, and authority

There wasn't one magic switch waiting to be flipped. Rebuilding Snyder's organic search presence meant strengthening the pieces that work together over time: useful content, technical structure, local relevance, and domain authority.

01 /

Content built around what people actually search

We didn't add generic model pages and call it an SEO strategy. Our team built original content around the questions Ohio drivers actually search, alongside pages targeting high-intent vehicle, ownership, and local searches.

One guide covering Ohio vehicle registration, plates, and titles went from not ranking at all to #1 statewide for searches including "temporary tags Ohio."

That traffic matters because useful content does more than rank one page. It builds topical authority, expands the dealership's overall search footprint, and creates trusted resources that traditional and AI-powered search engines can surface when answering shoppers' questions.

02 /

Structured data built for search engines and AI

Good automotive SEO isn't only about what shoppers can see on the page. Search engines and AI systems need to understand it, too.

We implemented structured data across both Snyder websites to provide clearer context around dealership locations, inventory, services, and content.

Instead of leaving machines to interpret what a page represents, Schema markup helps define it. That added structure makes key dealership information easier to understand, connect, and surface across traditional and AI-powered search experiences—strengthening the foundation behind Snyder's growing organic visibility.

03 /

Building authority beyond Napoleon

Snyder doesn't need to out-publish every dealership in Toledo or Fort Wayne. It needs to show search engines that its websites are trusted, relevant resources for the searches that matter.

The SEO team built quality backlinks and citations to strengthen both dealership domains and reinforce their connection to the markets they serve. Those signals support local SEO for car dealerships while building the broader domain authority needed to compete organically.

For small-town stores surrounded by larger-market competitors, that credibility helps Snyder earn visibility well beyond Napoleon—and compete for shoppers across a much larger search market.

A note on the numbers

Snyder also launched paid search and social advertising with our team in November 2025. Those results are not included in the performance figures below. Traffic, user, engagement, and lead metrics in this car dealership SEO case study come exclusively from the GA4 organic search channel. Keyword growth is measured separately using unpaid organic rankings.

The Results

The results: ten months of dealership SEO

Snyder Auto Group doubled organic form submissions and grew organic sessions 53% in ten months of dealership SEO with Dealer Authority.

And the gains weren't isolated to a single metric or rooftop. Both Snyder dealerships attracted more organic users, generated more sessions, reached more new shoppers, and produced more form submissions than during the same period one year earlier.

The 24-month view makes the timing especially clear: traffic reached its low point around the beginning of the engagement and then changed direction as the SEO strategy gained traction.

Snyder Chevrolet: organic traffic and leads accelerate

Comparing August 2026 with August 2025, Snyder Chevrolet recorded substantial year-over-year growth across nearly every organic acquisition metric.

The dealership wasn't simply generating more sessions. Organic users increased 44%, new users increased 46%, and visitors spent more time engaged with the site on average.

Most importantly, that additional visibility was producing action: organic form submissions increased 71% year over year.

Snyder Buick GMC saw the same upward movement.

Organic sessions increased 36%, new users increased 25%, and average engagement time held slightly higher even as the site welcomed substantially more traffic.

But the lead growth stands out most: organic form submissions jumped from 7 to 16, an increase of nearly 129%.

More traffic. More rankings. Twice the leads.

Across both Snyder dealerships, organic sessions increased from 3,259 to 4,987, a 53% year-over-year gain. Organic form submissions went from 14 to 28. Exactly double. And the growth wasn't limited to GA4.

When the SEO team began the working on the Snyder sites in November 2025, Snyder Chevrolet ranked on page one for 61 keywords. By August 2026, that number had reached 184 - more than triple the starting point.

Top-three rankings climbed from 17 to 45 over the same period. That's the progression dealership SEO is supposed to create:

More search visibility → more organic shoppers → more opportunities to convert.

Ten months in, Snyder was seeing all three.

From the dealer owner

“The team is responsive, knowledgeable, and understands our business. They bring good ideas, communicate well, and genuinely care about helping us improve our marketing and grow. Highly recommend!”

About the Data

Numbers you can actually check

Traffic, user, engagement, and lead figures in this case study come from the GA4 organic search channel and compare August 1-31, 2026 with August 1-31, 2025. Form submissions are measured using asc_form_submission key events. Keyword data comes from Ahrefs US. Page-one rankings refer to organic positions 1-10 and are measured monthly from November 2025, when our SEO work began, through August 2026.

Because our team began working with Snyder in November 2025, the August year-over-year GA4 comparison measures a period before the engagement against the same period after the engagement began.

We show how the numbers were measured because a case study should be something you can verify, not just something you have to believe.

Questions Dealers Ask About This Car Dealership SEO Case Study

How quickly did Snyder start seeing SEO results?

Organic traffic began changing direction within the first few months of the engagement. The largest traffic gains followed as the strategy matured, while Snyder Chevrolet's page-one keyword count continued climbing - from 61 in November to 113 by March and 184 by August.

SEO isn't instant, but progress shouldn't be invisible while you wait.

Would this dealership SEO strategy work in a larger market?

The fundamentals of car dealership SEO carry across markets, but the strategy and timeline change with competition.

Existing domain authority, technical health, content gaps, competitors, local search conditions, and dealership goals all influence where the biggest opportunities lie. That's why Dealer Authority builds its automotive SEO strategy around each rooftop instead of copying the same plan from one dealership to another.

Didn't Snyder start paid advertising at the same time?

Yes. Snyder launched paid search and social advertising with Dealer Authority at the same time as SEO.

Those results aren't included here. The traffic, user, engagement, and form-submission metrics reported on this page come from the GA4 organic search channel, while the keyword data measures unpaid organic rankings.

Why does Dealer Authority create informational content for a car dealership?

Not every valuable search starts with "Chevy dealer near me."

Shoppers search for vehicle comparisons, ownership questions, service information, registration requirements, financing questions, and dozens of other topics throughout the customer journey.

Answering those questions helps a dealership expand its organic search footprint, demonstrate topical authority, earn links, and create useful resources that can surface in both traditional and AI-powered search experiences.

What does car dealership SEO like this cost?

Dealer Authority's SEO engagements are scoped per rooftop based on the dealership's market, competition, existing search presence, and goals.

There are no setup costs, no hidden fees, and no long-term contracts.
