Postcards from Our Epic Virtual Road Trip

Summer may be over, but we squeezed in one last road trip, going coast to coast—and even back in time—to find America’s most notable dealerships. So let’s take a look back at our 30 Days of Dealers.

Our Roadmap to the Best Dealers in the U.S.A.

We couldn’t think of a better way to spend the month of September than doing what we love to do best: showcasing dealerships across the U.S.A. We sought out dealers who stood out, whether it was for outstanding customer service or their distinctive inventory.

From the largest to the smallest, the retro and the rock star, see which dealerships captured our attention. You can view all of the dealers we highlighted by visiting our Instagram channel.

September 1-7: From Malls to Museums

We started our journey in search of Dealerships of Distinction. Whether they have the most extensive inventory or the most acreage or offer a unique experience, you won’t want to miss these automotive dealers.

The largest dealership in the United States, Longo Toyota boasts all of the accouterments you expect to find in a car dealer. On its 50-acres in El Monte, CA, you’ll find a massive team of sales and finance professionals, a massive selection of Toyota cars, S.U.V.s, and trucks, and large Parts department, and a factory-trained team of service technicians. But with all that room to spare, Longo added some popular stores, including Starbucks, Subway, and a Verizon wireless store. There’s even an A.A.A. of California and an Enterprise Rent-a-Car on-site.

Longo Toyota #1 in the world since 1967

Longo’s 700+ employees reflect the diversity of the Southern California population they serve, speaking more than 30 languages. So if you’re in the market for a new or used Toyota, put Longo Toyota on your list of dealers to visit.

Throwing it back to 1949 in Springfield, Oregon Buick. Sadly, the dealership closed in 2019, but the showroom stands as a tribute to mid-century modern architecture and automobiles. Everything in the showroom, from the doors and trim to the cabinets, is what car shoppers saw when the dealership first opened in 1949, right down to the newspaper heralding its Grand Opening.

It’s the smallest dealership on our tour with just one car, a classic mid-60s Buick convertible. So if you’re in Southern Oregon and feeling nostalgic, take a peek.

Unique Classic Cars

Looking for something different? Unique Classic Cars started in 2006 with only seven vehicles. Today you’ll find over 150 amazing cars spanning more than seven decades, from Chevrolet wagons to Chrysler coupes and every kind of classic Ford, Dodge, and Chevy truck you can imagine. It’s definitely worth a side trip to Mankato, MN.

” The Last A.M.C. Dealership.” To visit Collier Motors in Pikeville, NC, step back in time. Although A.M.C. went out of business more than 30 years ago, if you’re looking for a Hornet, Javelin, Gremlin, Nash Rambler, or any A.M.C. classic, the Colliers will hook you up.

Did you hit it big in Vegas? Then, treat yourself to a new car! The Las Vegas (Henderson) Valley Auto Mall has 15 dealerships, from Audi to Volkswagen. With so many dealers to choose from, you’ll find the car of your dreams.

If you’ve got a craving for luxury, Miller Motorcars in Greenwich, CT, has the largest selection of the finest cars on the planet. Got an appetite for an Aston Martin? A passion for a Pagani? Miller Motorcars can satisfy your desire for premium luxury.

Days 8-12: Spotlight on Porsche and Lexus

During this week, we featured Porsche and Lexus in the United States. In addition to exploring their United States headquarters, we’ll highlight several dealerships that are worth checking out.

Porsche built its first headquarters outside of Germany in Atlanta, GA. Opened in 2015, the 27-acre complex boasts a 1.6-mile driver development track, driving simulator lab, a human performance center, a fine dining restaurant, plus a restoration center and classic car gallery.

It’s the largest headquarters outside of Germany and is located at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.

Atlanta is also the home of three top-rated Porsche dealerships. Foremost Speed Shop, Porsche Atlanta Perimeter, and Roock AutoSport -which has racked up 450 awards for its Porsche service and performance enhancements.

Moving on to New Jersey, we have Jack Daniels Porsche. You need a big dealership when you serve parts of New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania. Jack Daniels is the largest Porsche dealer in the United States.

Looking at Lexus, our first stop is Lexus of Arlington. Measuring in at over 190,000 square feet, this Arlington Heights, IL location is the largest Lexus dealership in the United States. This giant dealership offers a vast selection of Lexus vehicles, plus some incredible amenities, including a fitness center, Zen quiet room, and an indoor putting green and driving range.

From there, we distilled Dealership.com’s list of top Lexus dealers down to the Top 10 in the U.S.A. See who made the cut on our Instagram page.

Days 13-15: Few Days of Ford

The All-American brand, we found several Ford dealerships across the U.S. that have achieved nearly perfect 5-star ratings on Google.

The #1 volume Ford dealer globally, Galpin Ford sells more than 22,000 vehicles per year. If you’re looking for an F-150 Lightning or a Mustang G.T., you’ll find all that and more at this Los Angeles dealership.

There’s just something about the way “Five Star Ford” rolls off the tongue. So it should be no surprise that we have three that set a high bar by naming their dealership after their rating. Five Star Ford in North Richland Hills, TX is the #1 volume Ford dealer in Texas. You’ll also find a Five Star Ford Stone Mountain in Snellville, GA, and a Five Star Ford Lincoln in Aberdeen, WA.

Days 16-30: It’s Full of Stars!

Using J.D. Power’s Top Rated Car Brands for 2022 as a starting point, we searched for dealerships throughout the United States that have achieved five-star reviews on Google. Visit our Instagram channel to see which five-star dealerships representing these brands got a shout-out.

Start Planning YOUR Trip to These Dealers

There we have it. Our road trip through 30 Days of Dealers spanned from Alaska to Florida. We had a great time exploring and finding the most interesting car dealerships throughout the United States. Even if you’re not (yet) actively shopping for a car, many of these places are worth a trip for their amenities and historical interest.

We’re already dreaming of next summer’s road trips, real and virtual.
