Facebook is like a galaxy, it’s enormous, captivating and always changing. When it comes to their business side, they’re constantly making moves to make things easier for marketers. If you’re spending money on Facebook, you want the best opportunity to achieve your business goals. That’s fair, right? Well, hold on to your horses because Facebook is making some big changes this week. On September 15th, Facebook is going to retire 17 types of posts that Pages can no longer boost as ads. Why?  Facebook is presently committed to delivering actual results for your business instead of maximizing simple engagement with your money. In other words, the lazy boosting just to get eyeballs to notice your page is coming to an end. These are the 17 types of posts Facebook is putting into the pasture:

  • Boosting share of products from shops
  • Page sharing a shop, then boosting the story
  • Boosting a check-in on a map, at a restaurant, or in a city
  • Boosting the share of a note
  • Boosting the share of a poll
  • Boosting place recommendations
  • Boosting the share of cultural moments
  • Boosting the share of comments
  • Boosting change of a Profile picture
  • Boosting a file upload or share
  • Boosting a sports event
  • Boosting of a video or image uploaded through the Facebook camera
  • Boosting a post related to attending an event
  • Boosting the share of a video playlist
  • Boosting the status of watching a television show, movie, or other types of programming
  • Sharing an already sponsored post that is an app posting to a Page’s timeline, then boosting that story
  • Boosting a political endorsement

If you don’t boost these type of posts, there’s nothing to see here. If you are, take notice. Any ads purchased before September 15th that boost these types of posts will stop running after September 29th. The changes are coming, so be ready. #HereWeGoAgain
